<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">People who follow my Design blog don't always go over to my Feats blog to see the end result of my ideas.</span></b><br />

<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">So, if you follow me on this blog, I would really like it if your popped over and became a follower of my Feats blogs here: <a href="http://tru-featsandaccomplishments.blogspot.com/">TRU TALES FEATS</a>. This how part of the bottom layer looks with 2 coats of primer.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/TMsTjLfrtYI/AAAAAAAACgg/IpZj8i2xt8k/s1600/IMG_0358.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/TMsTjLfrtYI/AAAAAAAACgg/IpZj8i2xt8k/s400/IMG_0358.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<br />
I'm using Zinsser BIN primer and I'm likin' it. It dries fast, to touch in 15 minutes and I can recoat in 45. Certainly not like any oil based paint I've ever used before. I have read reviews that people think it stinks a lot. I have not found the odor to be offensive at all. Certainly not near as bad as the paint thinner I used to clean the piece. I thought I would have to open a window or 2 for ventilation, but, unless I'm just used to the smell, it seems to go away quickly.<br />
<br />
So, here's the question. See those metal supports between the 2 shelves on the one table? I'm not sure if I should paint them to match the handles (pewter) that go on the piece...<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/TLiQhGRfRrI/AAAAAAAACdo/LBugVOvAitY/s320/handles+after.png" /></div><br />
or paint them the same color (pine, with a brown glazing) as the main piece.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/TMn9vgPiEAI/AAAAAAAACgM/ERPOZC68SLI/s1600/IMG_0353.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/TMn9vgPiEAI/AAAAAAAACgM/ERPOZC68SLI/s320/IMG_0353.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Our basement is a dirt floor and only under one section of the house. the other part is a crawlspace. Anyway, there is barely enough room down there for the utilities and canning products, not to mention the ceiling is so low, I can barely stand up straight in parts without hitting my head on furnace pipes.<br />
It's gotten too cold to be painting in the garage, so I have to move my projects indoors. In fact, I had to move Henry's Train-Activity table/ Toy box into the mudroom to finish it. Just for the painting though. I will finish all the prep work in the garage, since that doesn't matter if it's cold or not.<br />
This is the reason my living has become a workshop.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/TMn-GkXxtBI/AAAAAAAACgQ/YbWried0GJM/s1600/IMG_0351.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/TMn-GkXxtBI/AAAAAAAACgQ/YbWried0GJM/s320/IMG_0351.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
This being my plant stand. It should have been done long before now, but life gets in the way.<br />
<br />
Here are the <b style="text-decoration: line-through;">excuses</b> reasons why I don't have this done:<br />
<br />
<b style="text-decoration: underline;">#1 Farming.</b> This is one of our busier times of the year with harvesting as well as the normal chores. I did get a couple of days to work on it when a piece of equipment broke down, but only enough time to get everything done but the painting.<br />
<b> </b><br />
<b><u>#2 Material Procurement.</u></b> Since I needed several different kinds of tables for this project, it took a long time to find them. I had a couple from our first furniture and found one at Goodwill. The best luck I had finding tables was when a neighboring town had their citywide rummage sales. I picked up 3 of them there; actually 4, but Gary thought the one was too nice to cut up, so it will be repaired (it has a veneer top that is damaged) and painted. Anyway that brought us to the middle of September. The final piece I found on Craigslist a couple weeks later.<br />
<b> </b><br />
<b><u>#3 Other Projects.</u></b> Specifically, there are 3 Grandkids birthdays this time of year, and I like to make them each something homemade and the rest of their present, money for their savings. So, I made a tote from some pillow panel fabric for Blake to carry his tractors in, a train-activity table/ toy box for Henry, and a pair of slippers for Jayden. When I get the plant stand done, I have to start working on Christmas presents. No rest for the weary I guess. <b>PHEW</b>!<br />
<b> </b><br />
<b><u>#4 Laziness.</u> </b>I did have a couple<b> </b>days when I could have worked on this project, but I chose to spend the time resting and catching up on recorded TV shows. To be fair, I did need the rest, 'cause we have been going almost nonstop since we started filling silos. Thankfully, we only have one left and that's the easy one. If all goes good it'll only take 2-3 days to fill.<br />
<div class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">♫</span><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">That's my story and I'm sssstickin' to it!</span></b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">♫</span></div><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;"> </span></b><br />
<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">BTW</span></b> This is what my kitchen entry looks like for the moment. Had to get those plants inside. I've already waited too long in some cases, but hopefully they'll look better once I do a little pruning and such.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/TMn-msCZDCI/AAAAAAAACgU/E_qHi1MhVaM/s1600/IMG_0354.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/TMn-msCZDCI/AAAAAAAACgU/E_qHi1MhVaM/s320/IMG_0354.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><b><br />
</b></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b> I...can't...wait...til... this...project... is...<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #783f04;"> </span></b></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #783f04;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">FINISHED!</span></span></b></div><b><br />

Last winter, the suspended ceiling buckled under the weight of the hanging plants.....AT MIDNIGHT!!!!! What a rude awakening that was! So, when I showed hubby what I had in mind for putting my plants on this year, he was all for it.<br />
<br />
Here is my inspiration:<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/TKM9H6jGGHI/AAAAAAAACcw/i0U78b-pE1c/s1600/Table+wall+art.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/TKM9H6jGGHI/AAAAAAAACcw/i0U78b-pE1c/s320/Table+wall+art.jpeg" width="240" /></a><br />
Sorry, this is the closest I can get you to this one.</td></tr>

</tbody></table><div style="text-align: center;">You have to scroll down for it.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/TKM9MKVL5LI/AAAAAAAACc0/qmr4to-MqRU/s1600/table+wall+www.recyclart.org.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/TKM9MKVL5LI/AAAAAAAACc0/qmr4to-MqRU/s1600/table+wall+www.recyclart.org.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/TKM9MKVL5LI/AAAAAAAACc0/qmr4to-MqRU/s1600/table+wall+www.recyclart.org.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a>This one comes from </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.recyclart.org/2009/08/storyteller/">http://www.recyclart.org/2009/08/storyteller/</a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Anyway, here's my design</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/TKM_IvaI3yI/AAAAAAAACc4/aTCR_CAA7lw/s1600/Planter+plan.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="251" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/TKM_IvaI3yI/AAAAAAAACc4/aTCR_CAA7lw/s320/Planter+plan.png" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Mine will be painted green, because it will be in the dining room and that's the color scheme there.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I just finished procuring all the tables I needed and hope to get this project finished before the snow flies, so we can have the garage back. First we have to finish the train/activity table.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Jessica will get baskets to slide through on the bottom shelf, to hold toys.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We are still trying to decide if it should have casters on the bottom to roll the whole table around. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">What do you think, Jessica? Do you want casters?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I was thinking for Christmas, maybe I would make a reversible town/farm insert to go with this. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Some thing like this...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="Town & Country Road Carpets Set of 4" src="http://www.e-quip4education.co.uk/acatalog/TownCountryRoad_350.jpg" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Only painted on hardboard or plywood.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Or, maybe I'll paint it on indoor outdoor carpeting, but I think the board idea would work better for "driving " cars or trains on.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<div style="text-align: left;">I needed some stools for the table in our gazebo.</div><div style="text-align: left;">I was thinking something on the order of these at <a href="http://www.mypatiogardenfurniture.com/Cheap-Outdoor-Furniture/Cheap-Outdoor-Bar-Stools">mypatiogardenfurniture.com</a>, but I'm too cheap to buy them and I couldn't find any easy plan to make them.</div><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_LodZ9etRvTw/S9oEucXHqFI/AAAAAAAAGkU/TjEy0oviPTY/s1600/jannah+ladder+table.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_LodZ9etRvTw/S9oEucXHqFI/AAAAAAAAGkU/TjEy0oviPTY/s200/jannah+ladder+table.jpg" width="150" /></a></div>So I decided to <s>steal </s>borrow <a href="http://www.knock-offwood.com/2010/04/furniture-plans-super-easy-but-little.html">Ana's ladder table plans</a>.<br />
A little tweaking to make it sturdier to sit on and I think we've got a winner.<br />
<div style="text-align: right;">Here's hers:</div><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">And here's mine:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"> <a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/TBqa4uDFg_I/AAAAAAAACGo/AQq_VkqnOuI/s1600/Ladder+Stools.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="168" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/TBqa4uDFg_I/AAAAAAAACGo/AQq_VkqnOuI/s200/Ladder+Stools.jpg" width="200" /></a> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This is how I built them.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: magenta;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: #fff2cc;">Tools I used: Materials:</span></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: magenta;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: #fff2cc;"> Table Saw (2) 6 ft Treated Deck Boards (5/4" X 6")</span></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: magenta;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: #fff2cc;"> Miter Saw 2" Deck Screws</span></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: magenta;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: #fff2cc;"> Tape Measure</span></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: magenta;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: #fff2cc;"> Carpenter's Square</span></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: magenta;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: #fff2cc;"> Drill and bit including countersink bit</span></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: magenta;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I pretty much followed Ana's plans except that I made them a little shorter and I used 5/4" treated deck boards instead of 1x3's and 1x2's. This did require ripping some of the boards on the table saw, but I wanted something that would be for outdoors.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/TB0H2Mj8agI/AAAAAAAACHQ/vz1jamk1GtI/s1600/Cut+list+ladder+stool.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/TB0H2Mj8agI/AAAAAAAACHQ/vz1jamk1GtI/s320/Cut+list+ladder+stool.jpg" /></a>This is the cut list of the pieces I used. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/TB0MKmZgU_I/AAAAAAAACHY/wmLrwdFaGJA/s1600/highlight+cut.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/TB0MKmZgU_I/AAAAAAAACHY/wmLrwdFaGJA/s320/highlight+cut.jpg" /></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #29303b; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 13px; font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;">Cut all the pieces to length with the miter saw, then rip all but [2] 14" boards and [2] 10 1/2" boards, which will be used for the seat and bottom shelf, to 2 1/2". [Leave the highlighted pieces full width.]</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red;">For all pieces: Drill holes for the screws and use a countersink bit to make depressions in the boards so the screws will countersink. Be sure the rounded side of the boards are all facing to the </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: magenta;">front</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red;"> for the seat, shelf and legs. For the seat and shelf supports, the rounded edge will be facing </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: magenta;">down</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red;">.</span></div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
Make the seat support by making a box frame with <br />
[2]10 1/2" X 2 1/2" boards and [2] 5" X 2 1/2" boards. Square up the piece with the carpenter's square and use clamps to keep it in place. Make sure the flat sides of the boards are flush [even]. Screw it together using 2" coated deck screws. When you have all the screws in place, remove the clamps and set the middle 5" X 2 1/2" board in and repeat the clamping and screwing process.<br />
<br />
</div><a href="http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/?action=view&current=100_0934.jpg" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/th_100_0934.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/?action=view&current=100_0935.jpg" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/th_100_0935.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/?action=view&current=100_0947.jpg" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/th_100_0947.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Assemble the seat by placing [2] 14" X 5 1/2" boards on top of the frame you just made and clamp to keep in place, and centered. At all steps be sure to measure, measure, measure, and make minor adjustments as necessary. Drill and screw down as before.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/?action=view&current=100_0937.jpg" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/th_100_0937.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/?action=view&current=100_0936.jpg" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/th_100_0936.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Build the shelf support similar to the seat support, except it will be a "ladder type" form instead of a box frame, using [2] 10 1/2" X 2 1/2" boards and [2] 9" X 2 1/2" boards. Attach the 9" boards 2" from the ends of the 10 1/2" boards, as shown in the image below.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/?action=view&current=100_0940.jpg" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/th_100_0940.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Assemble the shelf in the same manner as the seat, using [2] 10 1/2" X 5 1/2" boards and [1] 10 1/2" X 2 1/2" boards. The cut board will be the rear of the shelf, cut side to the back. The ends of the top boards will be flush with the ends of the 10 1/2" boards. Make sure you have a slightly longer overlap in the front than the back. Again, be sure to measure carefully and clamp in place. Drill and screw together.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/?action=view&current=100_0938.jpg" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/th_100_0938.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/?action=view&current=100_0939.jpg" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/th_100_0939.jpg" /></a>This is the finished shelf. Note the cut side at the back.<br />
<br />
Cut the legs on the miter saw. Clamp the [2] front legs together and cut first one end at 20°, <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red;">through both boards</span>. Measure for the length you want and cut the other side parallel to the first side, at 20°. Repeat this process for the back legs, except they are cut at 5°.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/?action=view&current=100_0941.jpg" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/th_100_0941.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/?action=view&current=legs.jpg" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/th_legs.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Assemble the stool beginning with a front leg and back leg on one side. <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red;">Make sure the rounded edges are facing to the front of the stool. </span>Line up the back leg at the top to the edge of the seat support frame in the back and line up the front leg at the top to the edge of the seat support frame in the front. Here is a nice image from Ana that shows the position.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_LodZ9etRvTw/S9kyiYlVfdI/AAAAAAAAGjk/k0UJuA0G2H4/s1600/knockoffwood+ladder+table+7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="224" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_LodZ9etRvTw/S9kyiYlVfdI/AAAAAAAAGjk/k0UJuA0G2H4/s320/knockoffwood+ladder+table+7.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.knock-offwood.com/">www.knock-offwood.com</a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
Clamp in place and drill and screw together. Repeat for the other [2] legs. Use the carpenter's square to make sure the legs are level with each other, front to back, side to side, and diagonally.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/?action=view&current=100_0942.jpg" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/th_100_0942.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/?action=view&current=100_0943.jpg" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/th_100_0943.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/?action=view&current=100_0948.jpg" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/th_100_0948.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
I did have to nip off the front corners at 45°, because it was just too sharp to slide onto next to the table. When I put a finish on these after the wood has dried, I'll sand down the edges a little so that there are no sharp edges.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/?action=view&current=100_0950.jpg" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy27/tshallow74/PROJECTS/th_100_0950.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />

</a></div>So, here's my idea for a plantable plant stand to put my Strawberry Jar on.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/TBFDuo7q8CI/AAAAAAAACFw/99XCW7S8Ev0/s1600/Sketch+plant+stand+01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/TBFDuo7q8CI/AAAAAAAACFw/99XCW7S8Ev0/s320/Sketch+plant+stand+01.jpg" /></a></div>And here's what it would be with the jar on top.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Whatta ya think? Doable?<br />
I'll let you know in a couple of days.<br />
<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;"><b>UPDATE:</b></span><br />

I thought "You know, I bet I can make one out of stuff I have at home."<br />
So, I did, and I don't think it turned out too badly.<br />
The plastic is all re-purposed and the only other materials I needed were some small screws, caulk <strong>(both of which I had on hand)</strong> and paint <strong>(which was on sale)</strong>.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 5px; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px; padding-top: 5px;"><br />

Remove the handle by cutting one end of the pin that holds it in. Use the handles for some other project. I made a handbag with mine. Use a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the labels to remove them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/S-GqNr-40SI/AAAAAAAACAA/RYVN5NKqJ5g/s1600/100_0821.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/S-GqNr-40SI/AAAAAAAACAA/RYVN5NKqJ5g/s320/100_0821.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Turn the jug upside down and cut out a rectangle, leaving an edge all around. Mine had a raise edge, so I just followed the crease.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/S-GqYPXR5-I/AAAAAAAACAI/TYkPCQsvjCk/s1600/100_0826.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/S-GqYPXR5-I/AAAAAAAACAI/TYkPCQsvjCk/s200/100_0826.JPG" width="150" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/S-GqdxXAbHI/AAAAAAAACAQ/_oIps-BR_Qg/s1600/100_0827.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/S-GqdxXAbHI/AAAAAAAACAQ/_oIps-BR_Qg/s200/100_0827.JPG" width="150" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/S-Gqi86V-5I/AAAAAAAACAY/aJ3WtNTzDKk/s1600/100_0828.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/S-Gqi86V-5I/AAAAAAAACAY/aJ3WtNTzDKk/s200/100_0828.JPG" width="150" /></a></div><br />
Mark off where you want your holes placed on the jug, measured according to the size plastic bottle/cup you have. I made sure mine were staggered all around, so all four sides are different.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/S-GsJCTVTwI/AAAAAAAACAo/aoowCh7YLSU/s1600/100_0819.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/S-GsJCTVTwI/AAAAAAAACAo/aoowCh7YLSU/s320/100_0819.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Cut the holes out on the <em><strong>sides and top only</strong></em>, using a SoniCrafter or whatever you have that will cut this tough plastic. Then cut<em><strong> </strong></em>off the top 2/3 , leaving the bottom 1/3 to attach your bottle/cup to.<br />
At this point, I scored along the bottom, so the flap could be bent inward.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/S-GsNwaGXkI/AAAAAAAACAw/pduRc9xtyAA/s1600/100_0848.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/S-GsNwaGXkI/AAAAAAAACAw/pduRc9xtyAA/s320/100_0848.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
This is the type of plastic bottle I used.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/S-GsSgm2JyI/AAAAAAAACA4/aUJ0T9gLwJE/s1600/100_0847.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/S-GsSgm2JyI/AAAAAAAACA4/aUJ0T9gLwJE/s320/100_0847.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Use the miter saw to cut off the top of the bottle. (If you are using plastic cups, you can skip this step).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/S-GsWlXEX4I/AAAAAAAACBA/fENXWVsWkh4/s1600/100_0859.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/S-GsWlXEX4I/AAAAAAAACBA/fENXWVsWkh4/s320/100_0859.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Clamp boards to the miter saw to make a jig to cut the bottles in half top to bottom.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/S-GsarzgS7I/AAAAAAAACBI/rf-nGJ1f83M/s1600/100_0849.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/S-GsarzgS7I/AAAAAAAACBI/rf-nGJ1f83M/s320/100_0849.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
This is what you'll end up with.<br />
Finish cutting the rest of the way with a kitchen shears.<br />

The top of the "pot" should be just a little above the top of the hole, just so it doesn't slip inside. Cut of any excess bottle/cup.<br />
Drill a hole a little smaller than your screw through each bottle/cup half bottom and the flap on each hole. Screw each cup to each flap.<br />

Caulk around the outside edges of each "pot", sides and bottom. Caulk on the sides of each "pot" on the inside. This is what you'll have, minus the peanut butter which I used to get most of the residue from the labels off.<br />
<br />

After this has dried, you'll probably need to check it over and recaulk any areas you missed.<br />
Let cure for time advised and drill drainage holes in the bottom of the planter.<br />
Sand it just to roughen it up a bit and wipe it down. You are now ready to paint.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/S-GuUuqU4vI/AAAAAAAACCY/9k4dGqqs5aQ/s1600/100_0858.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/S-GuUuqU4vI/AAAAAAAACCY/9k4dGqqs5aQ/s320/100_0858.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Here is my finished <em><strong>"Strawberry Pot"</strong></em> in my makeshift painting booth. If you're not fussy, you could use it like this, but I wanted a more finished look.<br />
Paint with a spray paint made for plastic. I used <strong><em>Rustoleum Universal</em></strong> in a brown hammered finish. I thought this would look the most planter like.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/S-GuYccvPrI/AAAAAAAACCg/HIjMJeFsYLo/s1600/100_0863.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/S-GuYccvPrI/AAAAAAAACCg/HIjMJeFsYLo/s320/100_0863.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />
So, here is the finished planter.<br />
<strong><br />
</strong><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/S-GucMnpbGI/AAAAAAAACCo/dQui3uuO3Uc/s1600/Strawberry+Jar.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_6dEqx5hV7r8/S-GucMnpbGI/AAAAAAAACCo/dQui3uuO3Uc/s320/Strawberry+Jar.jpg" width="253" /></a></div><strong><br />
</strong><br />
And here it is all planted.
